The genus Helianthus D. comprises Fifty-two species as well as some subspecies in the Asteraceae household, all of which will be native to The usa, with some variety (particularly Helianthus annuus (sunflower) in addition to Helianthus tuberosus (Jerusalem artichoke) affiliate marketing cultivated with Europe and also other parts of the globe as foodstuff crops plus ornamental flowers.

The genus is among many inside the Asteraceae that are called sunflowers. It is known technically because the lewis flowers, if present, are generally sterile, through the reputation on HGH Energizer the hard disk drive flowers on the pappus that is with two awn-like skin scales that are cauducous (that is certainly, easily indifferent and plummeting at adulthood). Suzanne Somers diet Some type also have further shorter skin scales in the pappus, plus there is one kinds that doesn’t have a pappus solely. Another complex feature in which distinguishes your genus more easily, but needs a microscope to check out, is the reputation of a dominant, multicellular appendage at the top of the fashion.

There is a large amount of variability among the definite species that define the bulk of this species inside the genus. Some have got most as well as all of the results in in a rosette within the base Slim TS of the place and produce some sort of flowering base that has results in that are lower in size. A lot of the perennials have hard drive flowers which Max Burn can be entirely discolored, but a few get disk bouquets with pink lobes. One types, H. radula, doesn’t have ray plants altogether.

An important to identify the particular species plus a comprehensive directory of species come in the Flowers North America treatment method.

The trained sunflower, Helianthus annuus, is the most well known species. These are generally tall flowering mounds of plants, Plaque Attack growing to your height with 50-390 or more centimeters. The hard and bushy stem is usually branched in the second part inside wild facilities but is frequently unbranched in trained cultivars. The petiolate foliage is dentate and often awkward. The lower foliage is opposite, ovate and also often heart-shaped. Atlanta bankruptcy attorney The top of the leaves are various and smaller. They Xtreme NO carry one or several to numerous wide, airport capitula (flower brain), with vivid yellow jimmy florets at the out of doors and orange or maroon blank disc florets inside (various ornamental cultivars recently become popular that Right to Bare Legs contain red-colored ray florets, these types of stem from one original mutant). These kinds of flower brain follow the course of the sunshine, going out of east to help west every day.

Helianthus species are widely-used www.qmoradio.com as foods plants from the larvae connected with some Lepidoptera variety (see set of Lepidoptera that are nourished by Helianthus).

The several tall, leafy, unbranched stems of michaelmas-daisy or maximilian sunflower grow to a height of 3-10 ft. Leaves are long and narrow, up to 10 inches near the bottom and as short as 2 inches near the top. They are alternate, coarse and hairy, slightly wavy on the edges, often folded lengthwise, slightly toothed and very pointed. Numerous yellow flower heads grow on their own stalks terminally and from leaf axils. www.five-point-lede.info The flower head is up to 5 inches across, with 15-19 ray flowers, deeply veined and slightly toothed on the tip. The center is 1 inch or more Shake Weight across, green to dark brown. These perennial plants can form large colonies. It was named for the naturalist Prince Maximilian, who led an expedition into the American West in the 1830s.

A native prairie perennial, this sunflower is a desirable range plant, eaten by many livestock. A heavy crop of seeds is produced, thus it is also a valuable plant for wildlife. Magic Mesh It was named for the naturalist Prince Maximilian of Wied-Neuwied, Germany, who led an expedition into the American West in the 1830s. Another bluegrass prairie species, Willow-leaved Sunflower (H. salicifolius), has numerous long, narrow, drooping leaves covered with soft hairs and a purple-brown central disk; it is typical of rocky outcrops with heavy soil.

Despite the shocking death of Whitney Houston on Saturday, the biggest stars in music graced the Grammy red carpet Sunday to not only honor the late icon, but also to celebrate one of the biggest nights in music and fashion.

A-list artists brought both subdued, glamorous looks and the typical over-the-top statement-making Grammy styles.

The lady of the night, Adele, sparkled from head to toe on the red carpet in a black Armani gown, showing off a lighter hair color in her first performance since having vocal-cord surgery.

MTV Style picks their best-dressed at the Grammys.

Fellow British artist Jessie J shined on her first Grammy red carpet, turning heads in a gray Julien Macdonald gown. “I just wanted to wear something that I don’t usually wear, which is silver, something long and very heavy,” Jessie told MTV News. “I feel like a disco ball at the event.”

Katy Perry was feeling blue at the Grammys, matching her blue hairstyle to a light-blue, long-sleeved Elie Saab gown. “One of my absolute favorites of the night was Katy Perry,” Celebuzz producer Rachel Maresca told MTV News. “She paired her bold, blue hair with a very light-blue Elie Saab lace gown. She looked stunning, and it’s a more subdued look for her. We don’t always see that out of her, but it is very glamorous.”

Another statement dress belonged to Fergie, who called her Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown her “safe choice,” which it was far from. The vibrant orange lace gown allowed her black bra and panties to see through, but according to Fergie, when Gaultier gives you a custom look, you have to wear it.

“When Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown comes and it’s shipped to you and it fits, you wear it,” Fergie told our own Sway Calloway.

Yet, out of all these amazing artists, it seems the fashion night belonged to Rihanna. Jaws dropped as she worked the carpet in a one-of-a-kind Armani dress that she helped design. With a plunging neckline and a deep halter, this dress hugged every curve to perfection.

Fans were shocked and some outraged when they heard Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” remix with ex-beau Chris Brown. The-Dream, who wrote the song, admits that he was a bit surprised when Rihanna told him that she’d like to include the man who once assaulted her on the track, but the “Shawty is a 10″ singer was far more understanding than Rih Rih’s detractors.

“At the end of the day, she’s my friend, so whatever she wants to do is whatever she wants to do,” The-Dream told Sway when he appeared on “RapFix Live” on Wednesday (February 22), just two days after Rihanna released the controversial remix.

The-Dream remembers first getting the call from Rihanna while driving in Miami. “I think I’m gonna put Chris on it,” he remembers the Talk That Talk singer saying to him over the phone nonchalantly. “I don’t know which Chris you talkin’ about, [but] OK, cool, whatever you say,” The-Dream remembers responding.

Of course there is really only one Chris, and The-Dream came to grips with the reality that the two would be coming together in song after the damaging 2009 assault that left Rihanna battered and bruised and Brown public enemy #1. “She’s pretty smart too. The same questions that went through my mind, and I’m an artist also, had to have gone through hers,” The-Dream told “RapFix Live.” “When she raised the question to me, I know she’s not crazy. So my thought was you’ve been thinking about this, you’ve already thought it out, so evidently you know what reaction you gonna get.”

The singer/songwriter said that he was just happy that she gave him enough forewarning that he too could prepare for any type of backlash. Still, despite the rumblings of whether or not Rihanna is sending the right message collaborating with Chris on “Birthday Cake” as well as Brown’s “Turn Up the Music” remix, The-Dream says that it all boils down to forgiveness. “Don’t say you know how to forgive when you don’t,” he warned. “Everybody knows what took place, cool. Have the power to really forgive if that’s what it is, if not stay on that side of the fence from the beginning.”

In no way did The-Dream condone Brown’s behavior on that February night in 2009, but he does suggest that it is time for people to move on. “It’s easy to kinda throw Chris under the bus all the time, but c’mon, man. OK, we get it,” he said.

The usual rule in Hollywood is that if something works once, it’s probably worth doing it again, and again, and again, and then maybe once more just to make sure the concept hasn’t run out of legs.

But even though “The Voice” mentors Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera smashed digital sales records with their collaboration “Moves Like Jagger,” don’t expect “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez to follow in their fancy footsteps.

“None of us are kind of followers in that way,” Lopez told MTV News when asked if she and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler might consider putting their very different pipes together to see if they could capture their own lightning in a bottle. “We kind of do what feels right, and anybody that’s been in the business a long time knows that you don’t chase.”

You could see why they might consider it, though. Since joining the revamped “Idol” panel last year, Lopez and Tyler have helped set a standard for how career artists can reboot their fortunes by making a move to prime time. Aerosmith’s back catalog sales blew up, while Lopez scored her biggest hit in years with the “Idol”-promoted single “On the Floor.”

Despite that visibility, the singer said she’s not into leading from behind. “You set the trail. You go out front, and anything that we do is something that feels good to us,” she said, leaving the door open just a crack. “If that happened, it would happen. If a performance happened, it would happen. But it would have to feel real. … Last year, we talked about performing together on the show for the finale, and we just couldn’t agree on the same thing that felt good for all of us, so we just didn’t do it.”

It had to take something really special to get Andrew Stanton to make the jump from animated films to live action. The man best known for his work on “Wall-E,” “Finding Nemo” and “A Bug’s Life” makes his debut as a (mostly) live-action director with “John Carter,” out March 9. It’s a pretty big change from what fans are used to seeing from him, and that’s because “John Carter” has been something of a passion project for him.

Stanton recently sat down with MTV News to talk about the upcoming release of the movie. It’s been a project that has been floating around Hollywood for a while now, as Edgar Rice Burroughs’s “Barsoom” series has been the inspiration for many other science fiction projects — like “Star Wars” and “Flash Gordon” — and deserved to get the big screen treatment as well. Stanton said that he felt that we are finally at a point when Hollywood is capable of doing John Carter’s story justice, and that is why he pushed to get the movie made now.

“The only reason that I’m attached to this thing and it got on to the screen is because of the fandom,” Stanton explained. “It was not a career move, it was not a filmmaker choice. If it takes my influence with Disney from other things to convince them this is a property that needs to get on to the screen, then fine, I’ll use it.”

Earlier I wrote that the movie was “mostly” live-action because it’s actually very CGI-heavy. From the Mars setting with its alien inhabitants to the giant beasts seen in some of the promotion for the film, Stanton said he had to use every dollar of his reported $250 million budget. And, if he’s to be believed, it’s well worth it.

“I think once you see the film, you’ll realize how big of a budget it is, it’s all on that screen. It’s a fully realized world with tons of history, tons of cities and characters and cultural things, and fantastical ideas. And all of them are part of what makes it attractive in the books, in the 11 books, and there’s just nothing cheap about it,” Stanton said.

He added, “I just don’t think technology could even do what you want to have put on the screen for most of the time Hollywood’s been around, and it’s only recently that you could possibly fit the economics of it into a box.”

Are you looking forward to seeing “John Carter”? Are you a fan of the books like Stanton? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Adele is starting to make this look a little too easy. And also, who out there doesn’t own 21 already? After all, they’ve had a full year to get their act together.

In the same week that she celebrates 52 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, all of them spent in the top 10, the singer set yet another high-water mark when she notched the biggest sales week yet following her Grammy Awards comeback. In the wake of her six-for-six night at the awards show, Adele rolled up her biggest sales week to date, moving 730,000 copies, more than doubling her previous high mark of 399,000 for the week ending December 25, 2011, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

The last album to sell more copies in a single week before Adele’s big jump was Lil Wayne, whose Tha Carter IV moved 964,000 in August 2011. To put her giant leap into perspective, in her 52nd week on the charts, Adele moved the third-highest amount of product of any artist in the past year, surpassed only by Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way (1.1 million) and Weezy, and coming in ahead of highly anticipated chart bows by Drake (631,000), Coldplay (447,000), Jay-Z and Kanye West (436,000), Lady Antebellum (347,000), Beyoncé (310,000), Britney Spears (276,000) and Chris Brown (270,000).

Among the other records Adele set with her massive week:

» The biggest weekly sales increase following a Grammy win in the, um, 21-year history of SoundScan. With her 207 percent bump, Adele beat the previous record holder, Norah Jones, who sold 621,000 (a 331 percent increase) following her five Grammy wins in 2003 for Come Away With Me.

» With her massive sales hike, Adele became the first artist to go double-platinum on iTunes.

» With 21 non-consecutive weeks at #1, Adele now holds the record for the longest #1 album by a woman in Billboard history, beating the record formerly held by the late Whitney Houston’s soundtrack to “The Bodyguard.”

And it wasn’t just 21 that got the Grammy love. Adele’s debut, 19, zoomed up five spots to #4 thanks to a 144 percent sales increase, with 87,000 copies sold, setting another one-week sales best by eclipsing its previous high of 71,000 units shifted for the week ending December 25, 2011.

In the first full chart week after her death, Houston’s only greatest-hits collection, Whitney: The Greatest Hits, saw a sales increase of 174 percent, shifting 175,000 copies to move up four spots to #2.

The rest of the top 10: Now 41 (#3, 94,000), 2012 Grammy Nominees (#5, 85,000), Van Halen‘s A Different Kind of Truth (#6, down 69 percent in its second week on sales of 58,000) and Paul McCartney‘s Kisses on the Bottom (#7, 58,000).

A number of acts also got a significant Grammy boost, including performer Bruno Mars, whose Doo-Wops & Hooligans rose 133 percent on sales of 38,000, bumping it up 22 spots to #8; Lady Antebellum, whose Own the Night was up eight to #9 (37,000, up 47 percent); and the Civil Wars, who rocketed up 31 spots to #10 with Barton Hollow (36,000, up 178 percent).

Coldplay got a more modest boost from their performance, as Mylo Xyloto inched up three spots to #11 on a 26 percent sales increase to 35,000, while Grammy winners Foo Fighters were up 134 percent and 28 spots to #21 with Wasting Light (23,000).

Further down the line, two other Houston albums, her self-titled debut and the soundtrack to “The Bodyguard,” both sold more than 17,000 copies, seeing respective sales increases of 113 and 123 percent.

Over on the iTunes charts, Grammy performer Katy Perry topped the singles tally with her new single, “Part of Me,” followed by Houston’s iconic cover of “I Will Always Love You,” Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and “Set Fire to the Rain” and Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”

Coming in at #6 were buzz band fun. with “We Are Young,” Nicki Minaj with “Starships,” Brown’s “Turn up the Music,” Adele’s “Someone Like You” and One Direction‘s “What Makes You Beautiful.”

21 was at #1 on the iTunes albums chart, followed by Houston’s greatest-hits comp, the Civil Wars’ Barton Hollow, Adele’s 19, Coldplay, the Grammy compilation, Mars, Clarkson’s Stronger, the Fray‘s Scars & Stories and Grammy winner Bon Iver‘s self-titled album.

With Houston’s chart record in the rearview, next up for Adele is the 24-week #1 reigns of the “Saturday Night Fever” and “Purple Rain” soundtracks. She should be safe for another week, as the only competition coming up in the next chart frame is from Sleigh Bells, Tyga and fun.

At this point in his career, almost 30 years after he started acting, George Clooney has become not only one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, but a regular competitor at each year’s Oscars. This year’s Academy Awards nominations, his sixth and seventh, for “The Descendants” and “The Ides of March” represent the diverse work Clooney is now known for and the many different roles he takes on.

Clooney’s journey to Sunday night’s 2012 Oscars took a familiar path through the festival circuit with releases in the second half of the year, one carefully engineered to spell awards success, but the two films that got him there and the work he did cover a wide spectrum in filmmaking.

“Ides of March” took shape late in 2010, when Clooney signed on to wear three hats for the film: actor, producer and director. His fourth directorial effort to date, the political drama follows a young junior campaign manager (Ryan Gosling) as he struggles with the moral dilemmas of supporting a presidential candidate, played by Clooney.

Based on Beau Willimon’s play “Farragut North,” the script for “Ides of March” earned Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for the original author, Clooney and his frequent collaborator Grant Heslov. Though Clooney’s well-known political affiliations and beliefs stood in the foreground, the man himself took more of a backseat, limiting his onscreen role to a few keys scenes.

During awards season, the film made a small mark, after debuting to only mildly positive reviews. It did, however, take a spot on the National Board of Review’s top 10 of the year and earned four Golden Globes nominations, including Best Picture (Drama) and Best Director.

In “The Descendants,” Clooney took a familiar spot as leading man, but the role of Matt King required him to be anything but his usual model of suave confidence. As a soon-to-be widow, Clooney fully adopted the dopey mantel of an Alexander Payne hero in the tradition of Paul Giamatti in “Sideways” and Matthew Broderick in “Election.”

But unlike his predecessors as a lead in one of Payne’s films, Clooney’s character remained almost entirely sympathetic throughout the film, thanks in large part to the believability of the acting. He effortlessly took on the role of an utterly clueless father with good intentions, helping make “Descendants” such a true and touching film.

In the week leading up to Oscar night, Clooney stands neck and neck with fellow nominee Jean Dujardin as the favorite. It would be Clooney’s second win for acting, his first coming in 2006 as supporting actor in Stephen Gaghan’s “Syriana.”

However Sunday’s ceremony might shake out for Clooney, he has proven himself a mainstay for the Academy Awards, and ? whether he’s acting, directing, writing or producing ? someone who will continue to appear on shortlists for years to come.

Nine films are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year, begging the question: who deserved a tenth spot on that list? “Oscars 2012: 10 Spot” answers that question, as the MTV Movies team highlights some of 2011′s greatest films and argues why they deserved a nod as the tenth Best Picture nominee.

My colleagues have made wonderful cases for several other qualified Best Picture nominees this year; “50/50,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” and “Bridesmaids” are definitely deserving of recognition, but none of them top the cinematic achievements of the “Harry Potter” franchise, specifically “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.”

To be clear, I’m lamenting the lack of recognition for the nearly perfect eighth and final Potter film, but we Potter fans cannot deny the fact that the franchise as a whole deserved Best Picture consideration. With “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” having paved the way for fantasy films to resonate with Academy voters as well as the general public, and the fact that 10 films can be nominated, it seemed very likely that The Boy Who Lived had a chance at that nomination.

So why does “Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ deserve the 10 Spot? It is the best of the bunch, hitting all the notes that those rare four-quadrant films need to hit. There is action, romance, solid character development with emotional, sweeping arcs, a killer cast, game-changing visual effects… the list goes on.

Speaking of the killer cast, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we will never see another franchise do what “Potter” did with its actors. Not only did the casting directors select the most perfect talent for the lengthy list of characters, they were able to keep the core cast members signed on for eight films over the course of a decade of filming! That just does NOT happen in this day and age of studios and agents wanting to make a quick buck and flash-in-the-pan fame. We got to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton et al actually grow up onscreen and grow as actors. Time will tell with regard to their futures in Hollywood, but their performances in “Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ were their best work to date.

And then there’s Alan Rickman. Just thinking about J.K. Rowling’s heartbreakingly brilliant arc for Severus Snape – that flashback to Lily’s death! Woe is me re-living the heartbreak pains I suffered alongside Snape in that moving, defining moment! – almost has me tearing up at my keyboard. Rickman knew about Severus’ story long before any of us did, which makes his amazingly nuanced and controlled performance over the years (and in this film especially) that much more amazing. Severus Snape wasn’t voted the best Harry Potter character ever by our MTV readers for nothing, after all.

Finally, let’s take a moment to appreciate director David Yates, as well as all the other award-winning folks who took turns helming Potter films: Christopher Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, and Mike Newell. Rarely do book-to-film adaptations translate so well and so successfully and each and every director who tackled a “Potter” film added something special to the franchise under their direction.

Again, when will such amazing and dramatic achievements occur again in cinema? The “Harry Potter” franchise is a perfect storm of so many elements, the proverbial lightning in a bottle that can not be duplicated. A Best Picture nomination was more than a little bit deserved.

The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Stick with us for everything you need to know leading up to the awards show, and on Sunday, February 25, tune into MTV.com at 5:30 p.m. ET for our three-hour red-carpet live stream and updates on the night’s big winners.

Just days after a number of A-listers paid tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston at her funeral on Saturday in New Jersey, R&B crooner Robin Thicke decided to pay homage to the singer in his own way.

The singer dropped a cover of Houston’s classic track “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” over the weekend, arranging the song with a piano and his own sweet falsetto voice. Released in November 1995, the original version was the lead single off Houston’s “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack. Thicke’s soulful version definitely calls to mind Babyface, who wrote and produced the song for the late star. Noticeably, Thicke changed the song from the third person to the first person, making it a bit more personal.

“I was thinking about Whitney and how incredible she was and remembered I had recorded this song years ago but never released it,” Thicke said on Tuesday (February 21) in a statement to MTV News. “When I listened to it again, I was overcome by emotion, because the lyrics express everything I’m feeling right now.”

He continued that the song reminds us what was unique about the late singer, who died over Grammy weekend in Los Angeles. “That’s what was so special about Whitney, she had an amazing ability to connect to all of us and at the same time make us feel inspired,” he said. “We love Whitney Houston and always will!”

Over the weekend, in a sea of moving tributes to the star from her closest friends ? including Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly and gospel greats BeBe and CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin and Kim Burrell ? Kevin Costner’s speech about his “The Bodyguard” co-star stood as one of the homegoing’s stand-out moments.

“Off you go, Whitney, off you go, escorted by an army of angels to your heavenly father,” Costner told the room in tears. “And when you sing before him, don’t you worry ? you’ll be good enough.”
